LEADERSHIP

Owner & founder Scott Balentine began his construction career when he was discharged from the Army in 1993. As a rough-in and finish carpenter, he built new custom, semi-custom, and spec homes in the Des Moines area. He also completed remodeling projects, including several farm homes built in the late 1800’s. In the fall of 1998, Scott and his wife relocated to the Kansas City area, where Scott continued his career in construction as a construction manager. In 2003, his employer became his business partner, and they started Lifestyles Custom Homes and Remodeling. Under Scott’s leadership, Lifestyles became one of Kansas City’s premier residential construction companies winning dozens of design, remodeling, and construction awards. Scott was recognized by Remodeling Magazine as one of the top 50 remodelers in the nation. Scott sold his shares of Lifestyles to his business partner in 2013, and moved into the commercial sector of construction. Scott founded Black Oak Construction in 2015 to offer both residential and light commercial services. Scott applied for Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business status, and in the spring of 2016 was awarded that certification by the Center for Veterans Enterprise (CVE). Black Oak Construction has successfully completed a variety construction projects for the Veterans Administration, and continues to pursue SDVOSB set-aside Federal contracts. Scott will continue the current pattern of growth for Black Oak Construction by producing high quality, award winning projects.
